The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update. Online Platforms Reaction Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration. The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms. They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction. Size Classification Changes Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Experiences A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members. It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
